A stretch that saw a heat wave followed by heavy rain and severe weather is ending, and it looks like the weather will be fairly quiet for the rest of this week. Expect seasonable weather without oppressive humidity for the rest of the workweek. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s with increasing sunshine. It may stay cloudy for a while on Wednesday before the sun breaks through from west to east. The best bet for a mostly sunny day is over the western half of Connecticut.
Thursday and Friday both look mostly sunny and a bit warmer than Wednesday. They should be nice beach days. The weekend will feature building clouds and possibly isolated showers/storms (especially inland) on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. The splash and dash storms, if they develop, will not lead to total washouts, but could douse your outdoor event for an hour or so. It will get a bit more humid this weekend.
Looking ahead to next week, expect the dogs days of summer early in the week with highs in the 80s to low 90s and moderate to high humidity. A nearby front in the midweek could trigger showers and thunderstorms. Right now, it looks like it will stay muggy through the workweek, but not as warm with more clouds and the shower threat. Overall, the weather looks relatively warm for most of August. This comes on the heels of a very warm July.
