The workweek ended with stunning sunshine on Friday afternoon. Morning low temperatures in the 40s gave way to highs in the 70s to low 80s. The last weekend of summer will feel more like summer than late-September with highs in the 70s at the coast and 80s inland. It will be a bonus beach weekend with high surf at RI and SE MA beaches gradually subsiding.
A southwest breeze will bring in muggier air over the weekend. You may want to turn the A/C on Saturday afternoon. The low temperature will likely be in the 60s on Sunday morning. The breeze looks stronger on Sunday afternoon, and may gust over 20 mph at the coast. Both days should feature a good dose of sunshine. It will stay warm on Monday before a front moves through Monday night. Scattered showers/thunder may will roll through with the front, but widespread heavy rain is unlikely. This very dry month of September rolls on next week.
It may briefly turn a bit cooler in the middle of the week, but the overall pattern favors warm weather returning for most of the rest of the month. The relatively warm/dry pattern may continue into mid-October.
