December 4 – Generally cold pattern continues

The storm that brought historic early-season snow to part of New England has moved away and left chilly weather in its wake for the midweek. There is no big warm-up ahead this week, and it will stay mainly dry through Thursday. Look for highs in the upper 30s to low 40s on Thursday with a blend of clouds and sunshine.

Light snow/rain showers are possible Friday PM

A very weak Alberta Clipper brings the potential for light snow/rain showers on Friday – primarily in the afternoon. In a worst-case scenario, the system brings 1-2″ of snow. It’s more likely to bring 0-1″, with the best chance of an inch in the high elevations and after sunset.

The snow threat ends before midnight on Friday night, and the weekend looks cold and quiet. Expect highs in the mid 30s on Saturday after starting the day in the teens. Wind chills will be in the 20s during the afternoon with some sunshine.

Sunday looks cold , too. Highs will be near 40 with dry skies. The next storm system tracks northwest of New England and that forces some milder air in ahead of it on Monday. It has the potential to be a soaker and wash away the snow with temperatures reaching the upper 40s to mid 50s. The best chance of rain is Monday afternoon into Tuesday. Right now, it looks like an inch of rain is most likely, with an outside chance of reaching two inches.

After a couple of day with highs in the 50s, Wednesday will stay in the 40s, and then the bottom likely falls out late next week with a cold shot arriving Thursday and Friday. At this point, it looks like there will be dry weather those days, but with cold air likely pouring into the Northeastern US, it bears watching for any disturbances that could develop into storms late next week.
