June 10 – Unsettled weather pattern ahead

The cold front that took Post-Tropical Cyclone Cristobal into the Great Lakes and central Canada will sweep through Southern New England on Thursday into early Friday bringing unsettled weather. Look for showers and thunderstorms – primarily midday into the afternoon in Connecticut, and afternoon/evening in Rhode Island.

Scattered showers/storms roll through on Thursday

Severe thunderstorms are not expected as the front sweeps through Southern New England. Look for nice weather on Friday with highs not far from 80 along with sunshine. It will be in the 70s with dry skies on Saturday.

Update – The odds of wet weather next week are diminishing greatly. There is a better chance of dry and seasonably cool weather than of any rain in the next week.

The weather pattern looks cooler and possibly unsettled heading into next week. A storm system will stall near the Eastern Seaboard, but it’s unclear if it will be close enough to New England to lead to an extended stretch of dreary weather.

If the storm drifts south over the Southeastern United States, it will be cool early in the week with an increasing risk of showers in the mid to late workweek. If it’s closer to New England, there could be a few days of showers before it drifts east away from the coast. The forecast is uncertain, but I’m leaning towards mainly dry and cool weather early in the week with an increasing risk of rain by midweek. Overall, it’s not a great look for mid-June. Temps may not get out of the 60s Sunday through Tuesday.

5-day rain anomaly from Sunday – Thursday shows above normal precipitation for the Eastern Seaboard, but it’s centered over the Mid-Atlantic. There is a chance that a VERY dreary pattern stays south of New England.

Looking further down the road, seasonably warm weather arrives later in the workweek. It’s very early, but the weather looks mainly or all dry for Father’s Day weekend.
