Southern New England rivers rose very quickly Saturday night into Sunday morning as several inches of rain fell in Rhode Island, Southeastern Massachusetts, and Eastern Connecticut. Most major rivers were not expected to see more than minor flooding. Several smaller rivers and streams overflowed their banks leading to localized flooding of parks and streets.
