National Weather Service issues Flood Watch

More moderate to heavy showers are in the forecast for Southern New England on the heels of the record setting rain that moved through late last week. The water table is already quite high, and some rivers and streams are still flooding after 3-5″ of rain fell over most of RI, CT, and interior MA on Friday. Rain will be steady Monday night, with the likelihood of a widespread 0.5-1.0″ of precipitation by dawn Tuesday. There could be some locally higher amounts because of embedded thunderstorms. Another round of showers and storms is possible Tuesday afternoon, which may produce another half-inch or more of rain in short period of time.
