Event Forecast: Rock ‘n’ Roll Providence 1/2 Marathon

The third annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Providence 1/2 Marathon is Sunday morning. The race starts at 7 am near the Statehouse and winds through the East Side of Providence before heading to India Point, the Jewelry District, and back to the finish on Francis St. in front of the Providence Place Mall.

As someone who ran the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Providence 1/2 Marathon two years ago, I know how important good weather is during a 13 mile race. It poured the entire time I was running the race in August 2011. Thankfully, the weather for this year’s race could not be better. It will be a seasonably cool morning, with plenty of sunshine. With the early race start, the weather will be very  comfortable for the runners once the race starts. It may, however, feel a bit chilly in the corral. You may want to consider bringing a – shirt that you can discard at the start of the race.
