April 19th Update

Gradual warming trend into next week

A dreary Thursday will give way to dry skies on Friday. It will still be very cool for mid-April, with highs only in the low 50s. The normal high in Providence on April 20th is 60°. The temperature so far this month is running nearly 5° colder than normal in Providence. Expect a dry weekend with seasonably cool temperatures. It will be in the mid 50s Saturday, and mid to upper 50s on Sunday – although a sea breeze may cool the coast both days.

We’ll finally get some seasonable warmth early next week. Highs in the low 60s are likely inland, and it will be in the mid to upper 50s at the coast. Dry weather is ahead for Monday and Tuesday, and it may stay dry on Wednesday. We’ll likely see some rain Wednesday night and Thursday.

Best chance of rain next week is late Wednesday into early Thursday

The overall weather pattern does not look as cool in late April and early May. I’m not expecting huge warm-ups to summer-like conditions. So, anyone who likes to say that we go straight from winter to summer may be disappointed with decent spring-like weather for a few weeks.
