Right Weather Pro: First look snow accumulation map

Here is a look at my first snowfall accumulation map for the event that will last from Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday morning. The storm will be quickly developing as it moves south of New England Tuesday night. It should continue moving right along, and that will be enough to keep the snowfall totals from getting too high. At this point, I’m leery of the usual issues that can cause a snow forecast to fluctuate in Southern New England – track and precipitation type. If the storm tracks farther north, than the heavier precipitation shifts farther inland, and some 6″+ amounts are possible near Worcester. A farther north track also brings rain into play for most of RI and SE MA. If the storm is farther south, than the whole event is lighter, but there is a better chance of some snow near the coast as the colder air hangs on.
