National Weather Service issues Wind Advisory

A Wind Advisory is in effect until 4pm Wednesday on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket. A powerful storm responsible for about an inch of rain also has the potential to bring 50 mph wind gusts to these areas. Wind gusts of 40-50 mph are possible along the RI coast and near Buzzards Bay through mid-afternoon. The wind should quickly diminish by late Wednesday afternoon or early in the evening.

ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON.

* WINDS...EAST 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH.

* TIMING...FROM 11 AM TO 4 PM TODAY.

* IMPACTS...WINDS MAY DOWN SMALL TREE LIMBS AND BRANCHES. DRIVING
  MAY BE DIFFICULT AT TIMES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WIND ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE
31 TO 39 MPH OR GUSTS WILL RANGE BETWEEN 46 AND 57 MPH. WINDS
THIS STRONG ARE CAPABLE OF DOWNING SMALL TREE LIMBS AND
BRANCHES...POSSIBLY CAUSING ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES.  DRIVING CAN
ALSO BE DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.
