Event Outlook: Weather improves for St. Pat’s 5k and parade

A big mid to late workweek storm should be out of the picture by Saturday, and the weather will be decent, albeit a bit cool, for the St. Pat’s 5k and St. Patrick’s Day parade in Providence, RI. There will likely be some sun and a diminishing breeze. Highs will be in the upper 30s to low 40s, and by mid to late morning the temperature should be in the mid to upper 30s.

Even if Providence receives several inches of snow Wednesday night into early Friday, road crews will have plenty of time to clear the streets for the race and the parade. The high sun angle in early-March will help to melt any snow quickly. The weather looks like a non-factor for runners that have been training in the chilly Southern New England weather this winter.

The St. Pat’s 5k begins at 11:15, and the parade steps off at noon.
