Nice Easter Sunday in Southern New England

Easter Sunday began with sunshine and temperatures in the 30s. An increasing south-southwesterly wind will get the temperature into the 50s by noon, before topping out within shouting distance of 60 inland. It will stay in the low to mid 50s near the coast because of the breeze off the chilly ocean. Clouds will gradually increase during the afternoon, with it staying dry until sunset. There will be rain showers moving through Sunday evening as a front passes. The showers should end by dawn Monday.

Monday looks relatively mild, but another passing cold front could trigger showers in the afternoon or early evening. Highs will range from the mid 50s to low 60s on Monday depending on the amount of sunshine before clouds/showers threaten. Colder weather is in the forecast for the midweek. The temperature will drop to near freezing by dawn Tuesday on a gusty northwesterly wind.

Tuesday and Wednesday both look unseasonably cool with highs in the low to mid 40s under partly sunny skies. The low temperature Wednesday and Thursday morning will be in the 20s to low 30s. The good news is the temperature should rebound to the upper 40s to low 50s on Thursday, and it will be in the 50s on Friday. Looking ahead to next weekend, we’ll be watching a storm that develops off the Southeastern U.S. coast. Right now, it looks like it could bring some rain late Friday into early Saturday.

Below is the climate information from TF Green Airport for March 30. The month has featured a near normal temperature average, 54% of the normal rain, and about 90% of the normal snow.
