Scattered showers Wednesday evening

Wednesday was mild and muggy through mid-afternoon, with scattered showers in RI and SE MA. As of 2 pm,  a line of heavier showers and t-storms was moving through Coastal Connecticut. The line was moving north and expanding slightly to the east. Temperatures were in the mid 60s to low 70s with a gusty southeasterly wind reaching 20-30 mph near the coast.

Right Weather Interactive RadarThe showers be scattered in the late-afternoon and evening before lifting north into Northern New England by midnight. It will stay breezy and mild. A few embedded thunderstorms cannot be ruled out in the showers. Some patchy fog is possible after midnight with the temperature dropping into the mid 50s by dawn Thursday. It does not look like this system will provide a beneficial soaking rain.

Thursday looks a bit unsettled, too, with the chance of showers. Highs will be in the mid 60s on Thursday. Drier air arrives on Friday, and it will be relatively mild, with temperatures climbing into the 70s inland.

Some showers are likely this weekend. We’ll have more on that in another update this evening.
