Warm sunshine on Thursday

Late afternoon and early evening showers signified the leading edge of some warm weather that is heading for Southern New England on Thursday. The temperature was well into the 80s in Ohio and Western Pennsylvania Wednesday afternoon. While it may not be quite that warm in Southern New England on Thursday, there is the potential for the temperature to reach 80° inland. The last time the temperature reached 80° at TF Green Airport was on September 13, 2012 – 245 days ago!

It will quickly become partly to mostly sunny on Thursday. The temperature will start in the low to mid 50s, and it should reach the mid to upper 70s by midday. There will be a west to southwesterly breeze at 10-20 mph. The high temperature near the coast will be in the low 70s, with it turning cooler in the afternoon as the wind shifts onshore. Thursday night looks clear and mild, with lows in the low to mid 50s.

Friday will be another spectacular mid-spring day, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s. There will be an afternoon sea breeze. The weekend should be quite nice, with sun and clouds on Saturday and mostly sunny skies on Sunday. Saturday should be the warmer day, with highs near 70 inland. A southeasterly breeze will keep it in the 60s for all of Southeastern New England on Sunday.

The weather pattern will eventually break down next week, but it does not look like it will happen Monday or Tuesday. Highs will climb back into the 70s by the middle of next week. There is a decent chance or rain by late-Wednesday into Thursday.
