A glance at the week ahead

The temperature soared to 87° at TF Green Airport on Sunday. It was the warmest day in three weeks, and it will likely be followed by even warmer weather early in the week. There may be some clouds and fog to start on Monday morning, but any cloud cover should burn off to hazy sunshine. It will be hot and humid inland, with highs flirting with 90° away from the coast and bay. At the coast, the temperature will reach the low to mid 80s with a west-southwest breeze of 10-15 mph. Dew points will be in the mid to upper 60s making for rather uncomfortable humidity levels. There is a chance of a passing afternoon thundershower in interior Southern New England – primarily western CT and MA.

Monday night will be sultry, with lows in the upper 60s to low 70s. Some patchy fog may form near the coast. Tuesday will be similar to Monday, with hazy, hot, humid conditions inland. Once again, it will be a bit cooler near the coast. Scattered thunderstorms may develop inland Tuesday afternoon. The warm, muggy weather will stick around Tuesday night into Wednesday. Look for highs to be near 90° inland again on Wednesday. The coast will be in the 80s. It’s possible some inland locations may have a three-day heat wave to start the week.

A cold front brings relief from the heat on Thursday. Of course, with it will come the threat of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s on Thursday. The weather pattern looks somewhat unsettled for the final weekend of June. A slow-moving weather system will keep the chance of showers in the forecast on Saturday and, possibly, Sunday. It will not be as warm at early this week, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
