A beautiful Sunday in Southern New England

Saturday was a superb day in Southern New England. A north-northeasterly breeze continued ushering in dry, pleasant air. There was wall to wall sunshine, and highs in the mid 70s. Saturday night will be clear and cool with a diminishing breeze. It will be a great night for WaterFire in Providence, RI. The wind will diminish overnight, and the temperature will tumble by dawn into the low to mid 50s near the coast and in the cities, and into the 40s in the countryside.

It will warm up nicely after the cool start on Sunday. Skies will be mostly sunny, and the wind will swing around to the south-southwest in the afternoon. Highs will be in near 80° inland, and in the mid 70s at the coast. The humidity will stay very low for late-August. Dry weather continues Sunday night, with increasing late-night clouds and lows in the mid 50s to low 60s.

The weather will be somewhat unsettled in the early to mid workweek. Monday looks mostly cloudy with the chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be the 70s with increased humidity. Showers and patchy fog are possibly Monday night.

You can expect a break in the action before the next system comes down the pike on Wednesday. Tuesday should be partly sunny with highs near 80. Clouds will thicken on Wednesday, and more showers/storms are likely Wednesday into Wednesday night. Highs will be in the 70s.

The early outlook for the end of next week and the start of the Labor Day weekend is for improving weather. A few showers may linger on Thursday. Highs will be in the 70s to low 80s. Friday into next weekend should be partly to mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
