The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for interior Southern New England effective until 6 pm Friday, August 9, 2013. A slow-moving cold front will bring heavy showers and thunderstorms to western CT, and part of central and western MA. Rainfall amounts are expected to average between 1-3″, with the potential for localized 4″ amounts – which will likely cause flash flooding.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely in eastern CT, RI and easter MA, but the potential for the heaviest rain is greater in the areas under the Flash Flood Watch.
