Partly sunny Saturday, more clouds Sunday

Delightful weather continued in Southern New England on Friday. Highs reached the upper 70s inland and mid 70s near the coast with a blend of blue sky and white clouds. Overall, the weekend weather looks decent, but not as nice as the past few days. Saturday will likely be the brighter of the two days, with clouds increasing on Sunday ahead of a storm that will scoot out to sea just south of Southern New England Sunday night.

Friday night will be partly cloudy with lows ranging from the mid 50s in the countryside to low 60s in the cities and near the coast. Saturday will be another fine day with low humidity and a decent dose of sunshine. Highs will be near 80 inland and in the mid 70s near the coast as an afternoon sea breeze develops. Look for partly to mostly sunny skies with wispy and puffy clouds in the afternoon.

A storm moving from the Southeast to the Atlantic ocean may bring a few showers to coastal SNE Sunday night
A storm moving from the Southeast to the Atlantic ocean may bring a few showers to coastal SNE Sunday night

A storm system moving off the Mid-Atlantic coast Sunday morning will skirt by Southern New England Sunday night. Clouds associated with the storm will flirt with the coast on Sunday afternoon. The sun may be filtered through high clouds on Sunday, and that will keep the temperature in the low to mid 70s near the coast, and mid to upper 70s inland. It will still be relatively dry, with dew points in the upper 50s to low 60s.

The storm may come close enough to throw some showers at the coast Sunday night into early Monday. It will move right along, and should be out of the picture by mid-morning Monday. At this point, there is no guarantee that the storm will be strong enough or close enough to bring rain Sunday night. It is quite possible the dry stretch of weather will roll right into next week. Lows will be in the 60s Sunday night.

Very warm weather returns to Southern New England most of next week

The outlook for next week is for warmer weather in the Northeast. Highs Monday will be in the low to mid 80s, and will gradually climb during the week. Tuesday and Wednesday will feature highs in the mid to upper 80s, and upper 80s to low 90s are possible Thursday and Friday before a cold front arrives. It will be 5-10° cooler near the coast because of onshore breezes. In general, there should be plenty of nice beach weather next week.
