Chilly start, milder afternoon on Wednesday

Most of RI and SE MA woke up to the coolest morning of the season on Wednesday. The temperature dropped all the way to the mid 30s in the countryside, with lows in the 40s near the ocean and bay. The water temperature is still in the 60s at this time of the year. There will be tons of sunshine after a bit of fog burns off in the protected valleys. Highs will be in the upper 60s to low 70s – nearly 10 degrees warmer than Tuesday.

Fine weather is in the forecast for the rest of the workweek. While cool in the countryside at night, it will not be as chilly as the past couple of nights. The afternoons will be mild, with highs near 70 at the coast, and in the low to mid 70s inland.
