Cooler weather arrives Thursday

Wednesday was a gorgeous day in Southern New England. Highs were in the mid 70s near the coast, and near 80 inland with a ton of sunshine. It was also noticeably less humid than the last several days. Wednesday night will be mainly clear to partly cloudy and not too cool, with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s.

A strong cold front will move through New England on Thursday. It will be partly to mostly cloudy by mid to late morning. Scattered showers and thunder showers are possible through early in the afternoon before the front moves offshore. The temperature will climb into the upper 60s to low 70s by midday then fall during the late afternoon as a northerly wind kicks in. The temperature will fall into the 50s after sunset. Low temperatures in Southern New England will be in the 40s to low 50s by early Friday morning. It is the coolest air to reach the Northeast since early to mid June.

Friday looks sunny and pleasant. It will not be too warm, with highs in the mid to upper 60s. The air will be very dry, with a late-day sea breeze near the coast. Friday night will also be cool, with lows in the 40s to low 50s again under clear skies.

The weather this weekend in Southern New England should be decent. Saturday will be a beauty. After the cool start, the temperature will rise into the low to mid 70s with plenty of sunshine. Another cold front will move through Southern New England late in the weekend. There may be a passing shower on Sunday, but most of the time it will be dry with some sunshine. If the front delays until the afternoon or evening, then highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s. If it comes through sooner, then highs will be in the 70s.

The weather looks fairly quiet and seasonably cool early next week. Monday and Tuesday should be in the low to mid 70s with some sunshine.
