A glance at the week ahead

The first full weekend of September was quite nice in Southern New England. A cold front moved through on Sunday, and cool weather will arrive for the start of the workweek. After starting the day in the 40s to low 50s under clear skies on Monday, the temperature will bounce back to near 70 degrees in the afternoon. It will be mostly sunny with a late-day sea breeze.

Monday night will be mainly clear and comfortable, with lows in the low to mid 50s. Some clouds will drift through on Tuesday, and there could be a passing shower or thunderstorm as a warm front moves through in the morning. It will gradually get muggier during the day, and the high temperature will be in the mid to upper 70s.

Very warm and humid weather is in the forecast for the middle of the week. It will be rather mild for mid-September Tuesday night. The low temperature will be in the mid to upper 60s. Wednesday looks partly to mostly sunny, hot inland and humid everywhere. Highs inland will be in the upper 80s to low 90s, it will be in the low to mid 80s near the coast with a gusty southwest wind.

Wednesday night will also be mild and humid. Patchy fog is possible with lows in the mid 60s to low 70s. A strong cold front will move into the Northeast on Thursday. Showers and thunderstorms are possible Thursday into Thursday night. Right now, it looks like there is the potential for some gusty thunderstorms, especially inland. Highs will be in the 80s on Thursday.

The cold front will move offshore on Friday, and another shot of cool weather will arrive for next weekend. Friday will become partly to mostly sunny with highs in the low 70s. It may stay in the 60s on Saturday and Sunday. Lows will be in the 40s to low 50s. The weather looks dry and fair both Saturday and Sunday.
