Heavy predawn thunderstorms in RI and SE MA

Loud, crackling thunder rumbled through RI and SE MA in the predawn hours on Sunday. An area of thunderstorms blossomed over Rhode Island and were heading east into Southeastern Massachusetts at 430 am. The storms are capable of producing torrential downpours, and the nonstop thunder/lightning with some of the cells surely roused many people from sleep earlier than they wanted on a Sunday morning.

As always, in similar situations there are several options to get the latest weather information from Right Weather:

  1. Hi Fred. Very scary weather. I honestly thought there was a tornado. It sounded so loud right outside the Window. Is it going to be a bad season of thunderstorms? If so I need to start sleeping n the basement. I live in Bristol, RI. I hope this storm goes away soon. It is lasting quite a long time. Thanks Fred, a very scared mom.

    1. Certainly no tornadoes with the t-storms, but it certainly was loud in Bristol. Scattered showers/storms are possible through Tuesday morning as a slow-moving weather system passes through the Northeast. Most of the time, it will be dry.
