Nice weather into the weekend

Cool air plunged into Southern New England Thursday night with the temperature falling into the 40s to low 50s by dawn Friday. The coolest weather was in the countryside and away from the coast, where the temperature reached the low to mid 40s by dawn Friday. It was in the upper 40s to low 50s near the coast and in the cities.

Friday will be a delightful day with plenty of sunshine. There will be a light northeasterly breeze that turns onshore in the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s – a bit cool for early September. Friday night looks clear and cool. Low temperatures Saturday morning should be similar to Friday morning.

It will stay mostly sunny, but get a bit milder on Saturday. Highs will be in the low to mid 70s with tons of morning sunshine followed by a few afternoon clouds. Saturday night will not be as cool as the next two nights, with lows ranging from the mid 50s to low 60s.

A cold front will move through Southern New England on Sunday. It will not bring widespread steady rain, but a few showers and/or thundershowers may arrive in Southern New England ahead of it. Look for partly cloudy skies with the chance of a passing shower or thundershower. Highs will be in the 70s before it turns cooler late in the day.

Another shot of cool, dry weather will arrive early next week. The temperature will dip into the 40s to 50s at Sunday night and Monday night. Monday and Tuesday afternoon should both be mostly sunny. Highs will be near 70 on Monday, and in the 70s on Tuesday.
