A wet, windy, and mild weather system will plow through Southern New England Thursday night into Friday. South to southwest winds will howl ahead of a cold front Friday morning. Peak wind gusts may top 50 mph, especially near the coast. The leaf-stripping winds may cause some down trees, branches and power lines. The strongest winds are likely between 5 am – 1 pm Friday. Wind driven rain showers may make for a slow Friday morning commute. The rain should end, and the wind will not be as strong, for the Friday evening commute.
