A strong storm system will bring showers and howling winds to Southern New England late Thursday night through midday Friday. The storm has the potential to deliver 50+ mph wind gusts to coastal CT, most of RI, and all of Southeastern MA. The sustained wind will increase to 20-35 mph by 8 am Friday, and the strong winds will last until mid to late afternoon. It is uncertain if the stronger winds will stay not far above the surface or mix down to the ground. If the stronger winds mix to the surface, there will likely be gusts between 50-60 mph, which are strong enough to caused downed trees, branches, and power lines.
