The weather system that brought rain, strong winds, and very mild conditions to Southern New England will be offshore on Sunday. The weather in its wake will be pleasant by mid-January standards. Sunday should be mostly sunny and relatively mild. Highs will be in the mid to upper 40s with a 10-20 mph west breeze.
The weather will stay quiet early next week before an active pattern returns in the midweek. Monday looks partly sunny, breezy, and mild. Highs will flirt with 50 away from the coast. It will be in the mid to upper 40s near the coast due to a 10-20 southwest breeze coming off the chilly ocean. Clouds will thicken Monday night, and rain is possible by Tuesday morning.
Tuesday will be an unsettled day, with at least showers, and possibly steady rain if a storm forms along a cold front moving offshore during the day. Highs will be in the low to mid 40s. A second system may follow on Wednesday. That one has a better chance of producing snow or mixed precipitation, but its development is uncertain, and we’ll have to watch the midweek forecast closely.
