Nice Wednesday; Cooler Thursday

WEDNESDAY AM UPDATE

The forecast is trending drier for Thursday and Friday. While showers cannot be ruled out, it looks like they’ll be scattered to isolated in Southeastern New England. It’s likely that most of each day will be dry. It will, however, be cooler, with highs in the low to mid 60s.

FROM TUESDAY PM

Tuesday was a gorgeous day in Southern New England. Highs were in the 60s and 70s with combined blue sky and puffy white clouds. There was a dry northwest breeze, and comfortable humidity levels. It will be mainly clear and comfortable Tuesday night. Lows will be in the mid 40s to low 50s early Wednesday morning.

Wednesday will be another nice mid-May day in Southern New England. Skies will be mostly sunny, and highs will be near 70. There will be a light breeze that turns onshore in the afternoon. Clouds will stream in late in the day, but rain will likely hold off until late Wednesday night or early Thursday. Lows will be in the 50s Wednesday night.

Thursday looks unsettled, with occasional showers, a northeast breeze, and temperatures struggling to reach 60 degrees. A period of steady rain is likely, but it may not be a total washout for outdoor activities in the afternoon and early evening.

The cool northeast breeze will continue into the Memorial Day weekend, but, overall, the forecast is looking a little better than it was yesterday. Friday will be mostly cloudy with the chance of a few stray showers. Highs will be in the upper 50s to low 60s, about 10 degrees cooler than normal for late May. Some sunshine should break through on Saturday and Sunday, but afternoon showers or thundershowers cannot be ruled out. It will gradually get warmer during the weekend. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s on Saturday, and close to 70 on Sunday. Most of the time it will be dry, with the best chance of showers in the late-afternoon and early evening – near the time of peak daytime heating.

Memorial Day looks like the nicest of the three-day weekend. It will be mostly sunny and warmer, with highs in the mid to upper 70s inland, and near 70 at the coast. At this point, it seems Tuesday will also be a warm day, with highs possibly reaching 80 away from the coast.
