Pleasant Weekend; Stormy Next Week

Less-humid weather moved into Southern New England on Thursday. There were more clouds near the coast than inland, and that will be a theme again on Friday. A couple of showers cannot be ruled out along the coast and islands in the morning. It will become partly sunny with an outside chance of a pop-up shower in the afternoon – especially over W RI and E CT. Overall, it will be a pleasant afternoon. Highs will be in the low 80s inland, and in the 70s at the coast. There will be a 5-15 mph east-southeast breeze.

Patchy mist and fog is possible near the bay Friday night as high pressure settles overhead. Lows will be in the 50s in the countryside, and low 60s in the cities and near the bay. The weather looks great for the Jamestown Half-Marathon early Saturday morning. Saturday will be a very nice day, with lots of sunshine, and highs in the low to mid 80s inland, and 70s near the coast.

A few more clouds will drift in on Sunday, but it will likely stay dry through the day. Highs will be 80-85 inland, and in the 70s near the coast. A southerly wind will develop during the day. The next best chance of showers is Sunday night into Monday, and an unsettled pattern will take hold early next week. It will become humid Sunday night, with lows in the mid to upper 60s.

Scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms are possible Monday and Tuesday as a vigorous and slow-moving system pushes into the Northeastern United States. It will be humid, and heavy downpours are possible. Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s, and lows will be in the upper 60s to low 70s. The unsettled weather may linger into Wednesday before drier weather returns for the mid to late workweek.
