Weekend Flurries; Rain Storm Christmas Eve

Clouds will increase Saturday morning, and a few snow showers and flurries are possible by late in the day in Rhode Island and interior Southeastern Massachusetts. There is a chance of rain or snow showers near Buzzards Bay and on Cape Cod. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s. There will be a 5-10 mph northerly breeze.

The threat of snow showers and flurries continues Saturday night into Sunday morning. There is a slight chance of a coating to an inch of snow in areas where the snow showers are steadiest. Lows will be near 30. The best chance of snow showers on Sunday is in the morning. It will be another mostly cloudy day with highs in the mid 30s. Winter arrives at 6:03 PM EST on Sunday.

Dry weather is ahead for Monday. It will be partly cloudy and seasonable. Highs will be near 40 after starting the day in the mid to upper 20s. Clouds will increase Monday night, and a few light rain, mixed, or snow showers are possible late at night. The temperature will be in the 30s overnight.

A weak storm system may bring rain showers on Tuesday. It does not look like a total washout. Highs will be in the low to mid 40s. A stronger storm will arrive on Christmas Eve. Rain will develop during the day, and it may be heavy at times in the afternoon and evening. 1-2″ of rain is possible. It will also become windy, with 50+ mph gusts possible near the coast. The storm also comes near astronomically high tides, and there could be some coastal flooding. The temperature will soar into the 50s and could reach 60°!

Rain will end by around dawn on Christmas, and it will become partly cloudy and breezy. Highs will be in the low to mid 40s. The weather will likely stay quiet on Friday.
