Sunny and Cold Saturday; Rain Sunday

Gusty northwest winds are bringing in very cold weather for the start of the weekend. It will be in the single digits with subzero wind chills early Saturday morning. Saturday evening looks mainly clear and cold with temperatures holding in the upper teens to mid 20s. It will gradually get milder Saturday night. Clouds will thicken, and there could be some light freezing drizzle, drizzle or flurries late at night. We’ll watch this closely because it could have an impact on travel early Sunday.

Rain is likely on Sunday, but it will not be an all-day soaker. It will be showery by midday, and steadier rain is likely in the late afternoon and/or evening. The weather looks soggy for the AFC Championship game at Gillette Stadium. The temperature will climb into the low to mid 40s. Rain will end after midnight. There is a slight chance it ends as a bit of snow in NW RI or Worcester County. The temperature will fall through the 30s by dawn on Monday.

The weather looks quiet early next week. Martin Luther King Day will be partly cloudy with highs near 40. It will be in the 30s with dry skies on Tuesday. There may be snow showers or a period of light snow on Wednesday.
