The coldest March on record in Providence will be followed by a cool start to April – at least on the first day of the month. Lows will be in the mid to upper 20s Wednesday morning, and highs will be in the low to mid 40s with partly sunny afternoon skies. There will be a 10-20 mph westerly breeze that will make it feel a bit cooler.
The wind will swing around to the southwest on Thursday, and the temperature will reach the low to mid 50s inland with afternoon sunshine. It will be 5-10° cooler near the coast because of the breeze off the ocean.
Friday looks unsettled with passing showers. It will be relatively mild, and may reach the upper 50s to low 60s by late in the day. It does not look like a total washout, but showers are a threat all day. More rain is possible Friday night into Saturday morning as it stays mild. Rain will end by mid to late morning on Saturday, and the sky should brighten in the afternoon. Cooler air is ahead for Easter weekend, but it may not arrive Saturday afternoon. If the sun breaks out soon enough, highs could be near 60. Otherwise, look for highs in the low to mid 50s.
The cooler weather moves in on a northwest breeze Saturday night. Lows on Easter morning will be in the upper 20s to low 30s under clear skies. Sunday afternoon looks partly cloudy, breezy, and cool. Highs will be in the low to mid 40s.
