There was an unseasonable chill in Southern New England on Thursday afternoon. The temperature struggled to reach 50° in the Providence area, and it felt cooler because of a 10-20 mph breeze. Clouds and a few light showers in the evening will give way to clearing after midnight. The temperature will fall to near freezing inland, and a Freeze Warning is in effect. It will likely stay several degrees above freezing near the coast and in the cities.
There will be some sunshine Friday morning before clouds develop again during the day. A light passing shower cannot be ruled out. The temperature in the afternoon will be a few degrees warmer than Thursday, but still cool for late April. Highs will be in the low to mid 50s. Combined clouds and a 10-20 mph northwest breeze will make it feel a bit cooler.
The same general weather pattern continues through the weekend into early next week. Saturday will be partly sunny with lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s. You can expect about the same weather on Sunday. A blend of clouds and sun, highs in the mid to upper 50s, and a northwest breeze.
A disturbance swinging through may bring some showers – especially during the day on Monday. Showers, and possibly a thunderstorm, will pivot from north to south during the afternoon. Highs will be in the low to mid 50s. Tuesday may feature a lingering shower before milder weather arrives on Wednesday. Highs may reach the 60s.
