Warming Trend Straight Ahead

It was a cool start to May with temperatures in the 50s on Friday. The clouds will break up on Saturday, and it will get gradually warmer over the next several days. It will be partly to mostly cloudy with lows in the upper 30s to low 40s on Saturday morning. Any low clouds will break up during the day, and the afternoon should be partly to mostly sunny. Highs will be in the low 60s inland, and 50s near the coast with a sea breeze.

Sunday will begin with mainly clear skies. Clouds will build in the afternoon, and there is a slight chance of a pop-up shower in the afternoon. It will be warmer, with highs in the upper 60s inland. A southerly wind will keep the coast in the upper 50s to low 60s. The warming trend continues early next week as a southwesterly breeze sends temperatures into the 70s inland.

The low temperature will be in the upper 40s to low 50s on Monday morning. There may be some low clouds early in the day, but they’ll be scoured out by a developing southwest breeze. Look for mostly sunny skies in the afternoon. The temperature will soar into the low to mid 70s inland. The ocean temperature is still in the upper 40s, so the coast will be as much as 20° cooler than inland locations by late in the afternoon. So, if you live with 10 miles of the coast, do not expect it to be as warm as it will be inland!

A weakening front will move through on Tuesday. The timing of the front is still questionable. Highs will be in the upper 60s to low 70s with partly cloudy skies and scattered showers. Overall, it does not look like a bad day. It will be relatively warm through the middle of next week. Highs in the 70s inland are possible Wednesday and Thursday with dry skies. Once again, it will be considerably cooler near the coast.
