Long-Range Forecast – July 6
Like it or not, the Dog Days of Summer have arrived in Southeastern New England. It will be very muggy through the middle of this week. It will not, however, be extremely hot. Clouds will be stubborn on Tuesday, and showers/storms will threaten on Wednesday. As a result, there is a decent chance that we’ll make it through another week dswithout seeing 90° at TF Green Airport. The last time we had to wait past July 12 to reach 90° was in 1962 when there were no 90° days. Last year, the first 90° day was July 2. If it does not reach 90° on Wednesday, it will be the latest into the year since 1972 without a 90° day.
It will be warm, but not hot, Friday through the weekend. The pattern will get unsettled early next week, with showers/storms possible as soon as late Sunday, and the threat continues off and on into the middle of the week. There are signs that relatively cool and comfortable weather will arrive in the middle of next week, but, this time of the year, fronts can get hung up along the Eastern Seaboard, and the cooler/dry air never makes it into Southeastern New England. Overall, we’ll continue to be in a pattern that brings periodic rain chances and little, if any, extreme heat.
