Isolated Showers on Sunday

Saturday turned out to be a decent day in most of Southeastern New England. It was certainly better in Rhode Island than it was in Southeastern Massachusetts where showers were bothersome, especially on Cape Cod. An isolated shower and thunderstorm threat continues on Sunday, but most of the day looks dry.

SUNDAY
The best chance of showers and thunderstorms is in the morning, and they’re likely to be scattered at worst. It will be mostly cloudy and humid, with temperatures climbing into the low to mid 70s by noon. We’re cautiously optimistic for a partly to mostly cloudy afternoon, with highs close to 80. It will be muggy in the afternoon and at night. Lows Monday morning will be in the upper 60s.

MONDAY
A disturbance will approach slowly from the west early next week. Skies will become partly sunny on Monday. The wind will swing around to the southeast, keeping it humid. Scattered afternoon thunderstorms are possible in relatively unstable air. Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s. Monday night looks muggy and mild with lows near 70.

TUESDAY
The slow-moving disturbance will still be west of Southeastern New England during the day on Tuesday. It could turn out to be a pretty nice day, with a low chance of showers/storms, and some sunshine. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s inland, and closer to 80 near the coast. Humidity will stay high. The best chance of thunderstorms on Tuesday is at night, and the threat continues into Wednesday morning. Lows will be in the upper 60s.

WEDNESDAY
The cold front may not move through Southeastern New England until late in the morning. If that’s the case, then showers and thunderstorms are possible in the morning. It will become partly to mostly sunny after the front passes. The wind will shift to the west, and lower humidity finally arrives late Wednesday into Wednesday night. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s, and lows Thursday morning will be in the low to mid 60s.

LATE-WORKWEEK
Thursday and Friday look pretty nice. One potential fly in the ointment for Thursday is a disturbance that may clip Southeastern Massachusetts and set off a few showers. It will be partly to mostly sunny in Rhode Island. Highs will be in the low 80s. Friday should be a great day, with plenty of sunshine and highs in the 80s. The humidity will stay low through the end of the workweek.
