Long-Range Forecast – October 16

If it reaches 32° in Providence by Monday morning, that will be only the second earliest date of freezing temperatures since 2002. It reached 31° on October 13, 2012. Last year, the first freezing temperature at TF Green was on November 8. There is a 50/50 chance it will get to 32° Monday morning, and regardless of whether it does, it may be the coldest weather we’ll see until November.

Milder weather is ahead in the middle of next week. It will be followed by a cool shot, but not as cold as what we’ll get Sunday-Monday. Mainly dry is ahead for at least the next 10 days. A tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico next week will bring rain to the South Central US, and eventually into the Midwest, but it does not look like it will be hitting Southeastern New England as a soaking rain storm. This needs to be watched closely because many times these systems ride up the western spine of the Appalachians and bring rain our way.

The bottom line is mainly dry and warmer than normal weather is ahead for the next couple of weeks.
