Long-Range Forecast – December 14

The first two weeks of this December are the warmest in at least 83 years in the Providence area. Tuesday looks like another extremely mild day, and it will be cooler, but still above normal on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will also be mild! Some colder weather will finally arrive this weekend, but it’s really just going to be normal for this time of the year.

Looking ahead to Christmas week, there will be another warm-up with a slow-moving system pushing east through the Midwest. A moist southerly wind will develop, and the temperature will be mild during the day and night for several days. Eventually, some rain will move through New England, but it’s unclear if that will happen Dec 23/24 or as late as Dec 25/26. It’s a pattern that’s conducive to clouds, fog and mist. Sound familiar?

There is no sign of very cold weather leading up to the New Year. Check out the video for more on what’s ahead.
