Long-Range Forecast – February 18

Mild weather this weekend will have some people thinking about spring, but winter is not over yet. In fact, a storm system moving quickly east late Sunday night may bring light snow to start next week. After that, we are tracking a storm in the middle of the week. It looks like more rain than snow Wednesday into Thursday in Southeastern New England. The track is still uncertain, and a snow storm has not been ruled out.

There will likely be a lull to end February, but no big warm-up. It may be colder than normal with dry weather for the last few days of the month. The longer range European model is showing a pretty active stretch in the next month, with above normal precipitation and snowfall, and temperatures near or slightly above normal through March 20. Overall, it looks like the groundhog may have botched his early spring forecast!
