A quick-moving storm system brings downpours to Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts on Wednesday. Localized 1-2″ rain totals are possible, with the heaviest rain through midday, then tapering to showers during the afternoon. Most of the area will get 0.5-1″ of rain. Temperatures will reach the upper 40s to low 50s.
The wind shifts to the northwest as the storm departs, and chilly/dry weather returns for Thanksgiving. There will be a lot of sunshine on Thursday, with temps climbing out of the 30s into the low-mid 40s during the afternoon. It does not look like a windy day. Quiet and seasonably cool weather continues for Friday. Early shoppers will have temps in the 20s/30s. It will reach the mid to upper 40s during the afternoon.
The weekend will be split between mild weather on Saturday and a sharp cool-down on Sunday. Expect highs in the 50s Saturday, and in the 40s with wind chills in the 30s on Sunday. It will be a blustery day. Both days looks dry with partly cloudy skies.
The long-range forecast offers cool weather early next week, but a midweek warm-up is looking more likely. Highs could get close to 60° for the last couple of November days.
There is little, if any, snow in the forecast for the next 10-15 days. There has been no snow at TF Green so far this November. There have been 13 snow-free (less than a trace) Novembers in Providence since 1904.
