One of the wettest Novembers on record in Southern New England gets another dose of moderate to heavy rain Monday into early Tuesday. Look for fog and a few showers possible through midday Monday. There is a better chance of steady rain by late in the day, especially in Connecticut. Rain overspreads all of Southern New England early this evening and continues, heavy at times, through midnight. The rain tapers to showers, drizzle and mist by dawn on Tuesday. 0.7-1.4″ rain is likely in CT, RI, and SE MA. Add that to what has already fallen this month and it’s enough to make it a top-3 wettest November. Hartford and Providence will likely end the month as the second wettest November on record. Bridgeport looks more likely to be the third wettest. In general, after tonight, CT, RI, and SE MA will have received 7-10″ of rain this month.
Tonight’s rain will be accompanied by temps in the 40s and strong east-northeast winds between 15-35 mph. The wind shifts to the northwest as the storm departs early Tuesday, and cooler weather arrives for the rest of the month. Highs will likely be between 40-45° from Tuesday-Friday. It will be blustery Tuesday and Wednesday, with a few snow flurries possible. Accumulating snow is not expected. Look for less wind and some sun on Thursday. Clouds thicken again Friday as a weak disturbance that may trigger flurries or snow showers passes by. It does not look like a big deal.
The first weekend of December starts with dry weather on Saturday, but it’s not likely to stay dry through the Sunday. Expect highs in the 40s on Saturday. It gets milder, but also wet, on Sunday. A strong storm moving through the Great Lakes sends moderate to heavy rain into the East Coast. It’s early, but it looks like a washout. So, December gets off to a wet start – just likely the last few months, and there may be another storm in the middle of next week. The active pattern continues. There’s a good chance that another month’s worth of rain will fall in the next 10-15 days.
