Last year’s Hangover Classic was one of the coldest races ever run in Rhode Island. The temperature was in the single digits and the wind chill was -10° to -20° F! This year, however, the tables are turned and it looks like it will be very mild for January 1! Rain moving through Southern New England on New Year’s Eve should be out of the picture by early Tuesday morning. Cool air will lag behind the storm, and the temperature will stay well above normal for New Year’s Day. With the race starting at 10:30 a.m., it should be a very nice combination of dry skies, temperatures in the mid 50s to near 60. I think the wind could be the biggest factor on race day with 20-30 mph gusts possible if the storm intensifies a bit as it pulls away. In a best-case scenario, it’s a 10-20 mph breeze which is not too bad for Colt State Park.
