November 20 – A bit milder Thu-Fri; Watching Sunday storm
A very cold November in Southern New England takes a slightly milder turn late in the workweek. The temperature will bounce back into the 40s on Thursday and may reach the 50s on Friday ahead of a cold front that will bring chilly weather back for the weekend.
Look for some sunshine (yay!) and highs in the mid to upper 40s. Clouds will increase Thursday night and a few light rain showers are possible. It will likely stay dry for a while on Friday, and a southwest wind will get the temperature into the upper 40s to mid 50s depending on whether the sun can break through. Another round of showers is likely midday-afternoon as a cold front passes by.
Chilly weather returns this weekend. Expect dry skies and highs in the low-mid 40s on Saturday. A storm system scooting by on Sunday will likely bring cold rain to Southern New England. There is a low risk of snow in the higher elevations, but it looks like there is not much available cold air. The timing is during the day, ending from west to east late in the day. The Patriots-Cowboys game will likely feature a raw/wet tailgate and damp/cool game.
As for Thanksgiving week…it gets off to a quiet and cool start on Monday with highs in the 40s. The temperature may reach the 50s Tuesday and Wednesday. However, it may not stay dry through those big travel days. There’s a reasonable chance Tuesday is dry, but a strong storm moving through the Eastern US could bring wind/rain on Wednesday. The early outlook for Thanksgiving is for seasonably cool weather with dry skies – highs in the 40s.
