March 9 – Warm this week before it turns colder

March is off to a typically wild start with temperatures ranging from the mid teens to the mid 60s over the course of a week. Low temps have been in the teens or 20s through the first week of the month, and there have been a few cold and windy days. A big warm-up is right around the corner, but it’s not going to last.

The warmest weather since early December is likely on Thursday

Look for temps to surge into the 50s on Tuesday and it will stay warmer than normal through the end of the work week. Temps will likely reach the 60s on Thursday and Friday with dry weather continuing into Friday. A few showers are possible on Friday as a cold front brings chilly weather back for the weekend into early next week.

Cold and brisk weather returns this weekend

It looks like a breezy to windy and dry weekend with temps in the 30s/40s and wind chills 10-15° colder. Lows will be in the 20s again. A slow-moving storm system will move across the country and may bring rain/snow to Southern New England in the middle of next week. A second storm system may follow with rain later in the week. It’s still too early to completely write off wintry weather this season, but with each passing day a snowy weather event becomes less likely. Long-range models favor relatively warm weather between March 15 – April 15.
