A Glance at the Week Ahead

The week will begin with more windy and warm weather in Southern New England. Some clouds are likely Monday morning as a weak disturbance moves through. The temperature will start the day in the mid to upper 60s, and climb into the 70s in spite of the clouds. The clouds will thin out by noon, and the afternoon looks partly to mostly sunny. The wind will pick up to 15-30 mph out of the southwest in the afternoon. Thunderstorms may develop in interior Southern New England during the afternoon. It is unlikely that the storms will reach Rhode Island or Southeastern Massachusetts before sunset. Highs on Monday will be in the mid to upper 80s inland, and low 80s near the coast.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Monday night as the humidity continues to increase. Lows will be in the upper 60s to low 70s. Tuesday looks partly sunny, breezy, warm, and humid. Highs will be in the upper 80s inland, and low 80s near the coast with a 10-25 mph southwest breeze. Scattered showers and t-storms cannot be ruled out on Tuesday afternoon or night.

The forecast is tricky in the midweek. An approaching cold front and a humid airmass ahead of it means there could be showers and t-storms Wednesday through Thursday. While the threat exists in that timeframe, it’s very likely that most of the time it will be dry. It’s difficult to say exactly when and where the biggest threat is for showers or storms. We should be able to fine-tune the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday by Tuesday. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s on Wednesday, and low to mid 80s on Thursday. Lows will be near 70 as it says humid.

Drier weather is ahead for the end of the workweek and start of next weekend. Friday and Saturday look mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid 80s, and lows in the 60s.
