A vigorous storm system will bring showers and possibly thunderstorms to Southeastern New England early Wednesday. The prime threat for gusty showers and storms is between 4am-10am from west to east in Southern New England. It looks like the worst of it could coincide with the morning commute in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. The primary threats from the showers/storms if for briefly torrential rain, wind gusts over 40 mph, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. It will be a mild start to the day in spite of the rain. The temperature will be in the mid to upper 60s with a gusty southerly wind ahead of and during the rain.
The chance of rain diminishes quickly by late in the morning, and the afternoon should be partly to mostly sunny, breezy, and less humid. Highs will be in the low to mid 70s. Wednesday night looks mainly clear and seasonably cool. Lows will be in the mid to upper 40s Thursday morning.
The weather will be pleasant on Thursday and Friday. Highs will be in the low to mid 60s with a fair amount of sunshine. Lows will be in the 40s early Friday morning.
The best chance of showers over the Columbus Day weekend is Friday night through midday Saturday as a wave of low pressure forms along a front stalled off the Southern New England coast. It looks like there will be showers, steadiest near the coast, Saturday morning. Any rain should end Saturday afternoon. A northeast wind will keep it cool, with highs only in the upper 50s.
Sunday is shaping up to be dry and cool. Lows will be in the low to mid 40s early Sunday, and highs will be in the low 60s with mainly clear skies. Monday looks partly cloudy with highs in the low to mid 60s.
