Rain and Snow Showers on Sunday

Steady rain fell throughout the day on Saturday in Southern New England. It will taper to showers Saturday evening, and there may be patchy fog, drizzle, and mist. The temperature will fall from the 40s into the 30s, with most spots staying above freezing through the night. There is a slight chance that the temperature falls to freezing or below away from the coast late at night. If that happens, there could be some black ice on pavement.

The temperature will rise into the 40s on Sunday with mainly dry conditions in the morning. It will turn colder in the afternoon as rain and snow showers approach from the west. There is a good chance of rain showers changing to snow showers during the late afternoon and early evening. The snow shower threat diminishes by midnight. It is unlikely that snow will accumulate before sunset, but, after the sun goes down there could be a thin coating of snow. The temperature will fall below freezing and some icy spots are possible Sunday night. Lows will be in the mid to upper 20s Monday morning.

Monday looks like a decent day, with highs in the mid 40s and mostly sunny skies. It will not be very cold Monday night as a strong cold front approaches from the west. A southwest breeze will keep the temperature in the upper 20s to low 30s. Rain showers are possible Tuesday morning as the cold front approaches. It will be partly sunny and windy in the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid to upper 40s before it turns much colder Tuesday night.

The wind will stay active, and the temperature will fall all the way to the mid teens to low 20s by early Wednesday morning. The weather looks quiet and cool in the middle of the week. Highs will be in the 30s on Wednesday, and near 40 on Thursday and Friday. Skies will be partly cloudy to mainly clear. The wind will be strongest on Wednesday.
