Cool End to the Workweek

An offshore storm will not come close enough to bring rain to Southeastern New England, but it will keep the wind coming from the northeast, and temperatures below normal. Thursday will be a decent, but unspectacular day, with highs near 60 in Rhode Island, and in the 50s in Eastern Massachusetts. There will be partly cloudy skies with a light northeast breeze.

The breeze will strengthen Thursday night into Friday. Clouds will increase as well. Lows will be in the 40s Thursday night. Friday looks mostly cloudy, breezy, and cool for early May. The temperature will struggle to reach the low 50s with a 10-25 mph northeast breeze. A bit of mist and drizzle cannot be ruled out near the coast and in Eastern Massachusetts.

There will be gradual improvement over the weekend, and a warm-up is ahead for next week. Saturday will become partly sunny. Highs will be 55-60, with the nicest part of the day in the afternoon. Sunday looks like a nice day. You can expect fair skies, a light breeze, and highs in the low to mid 60s.

The wind will shift to the southwest on Monday. The warmer wind direction will get the temperature into the low 70s inland. It will stay 5-15° cooler near the coast – especially in the afternoon. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny on Monday. It will stay relatively warm on Tuesday, but a front could trigger showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. The mild weather will continue through the middle of the week.
