Plenty of Sunshine on Thursday
Pleasant weather is ahead for the end of the workweek in Southern New England. Thursday will start with mainly clear skies and lows in the low to mid 40s. It will be a mostly sunny day with highs in the mid 60s to low 70s. There will be a light northerly breeze that may turn onshore late in the afternoon.
It does not look as cool Thursday night, with lows in the mid to upper 40s as skies stay mainly clear. Friday will feature sunshine in the morning followed by some afternoon clouds. It will reach the low to mid 70s inland, and stay in the 60s near the coast with a south-southwest breeze.
Clouds will thicken Friday night as a warm front approaches from the west. There may be some patchy mist, drizzle and fog by late in the evening, especially near the coast. The warm front will move through New England Saturday morning, and it could trigger a few showers. It does not look like a washout. Clouds will be stubborn, and the temperature may not get much above the low 60s in the afternoon without any sunshine. If the sun breaks through, it will reach the upper 60s.
Sunday will become partly cloudy with highs near 70 inland, and in the 60s at the coast. The wind will shift to the northeast as a backdoor cold front slides down the Eastern Massachusetts coast. The temperature will fall through the 60s into the 50s in Eastern MA during the afternoon. The cold front will push through Rhode Island in the evening, and the temperature will fall into the 40s by dawn on Monday.
The weather looks pretty quiet early next week. Monday will be partly sunny and pleasant, with highs in the low 60s in Eastern MA, and in the upper 60s to low 70s in Rhode Island. Clouds will increase on Tuesday, and a few spotty showers are possible in the afternoon. Highs will be near 70.
