A wild start to April continues with gusty winds after the rain showers Wednesday afternoon. Peak gusts over 40 mph are possible in the afternoon and evening. Much colder weather moves in late at night as temperatures dip to the 20s to low 30s by dawn on Thursday. Expect a bright and brisk day on Thursday. It will be about 10° colder than normal, but feel even colder because of the 15-35 mph wind. Look for highs in the mid 40s and feel-like temps in the mid 30s.
A disturbance moving through on Friday will bring snow/rain showers by mid to late morning into the afternoon. It will be a raw day with temps climbing into the low 40s. A brief break in the action is likely Friday night as the temperature dips again into the 30s. A second storm system moving off the Mid-Atlantic coast may come close enough for more rain/snow/mix Saturday afternoon and night. The track and strength of that system is very important. If it’s a little stronger and moves by slowly, then some accumulating snow is possible Saturday night. It’s unlikely that any snow will stick to the pavement during the day.
We’re looking at more quiet and cool weather Sunday and Monday. Temperatures will be stuck in the 40s to near 50 during the day. That’s chilly for early April. Yet another storm system will make a run at Southern New England on Tuesday. It’s early, but snow cannot be ruled out with that one, either. It looks more likely for chilly rain, and it could be a soaker with more than 1″ of precipitation.
If you’re looking for a warm-up, and who is not at this point, it may get a little better by late next week. The temperature may actually reach the mid 50s for a few days between Thursday and Sunday.
