August 19th Update
Southern New England is finally getting a taste of less muggy weather as the gusty northeast breeze brings in a comfy and end-of-summer feel into the early part of the week. A disturbance spinning in off the Atlantic Ocean may bring showers, drizzle, and mist late Sunday night into Monday morning. Expect skies to brighten in the afternoon with a cool breeze and highs in the mid 70s.
Tuesday looks about the same temperature-wise, and a few showers may flare up in the afternoon. For the most part, it will be a dry day, with partly cloudy skies. Once again a breeze will make it feel like summer is slipping away from us.
The best chance of rain in the upcoming week is late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. A cold front brings a shower and t-storm threat. Expect it to get briefly muggy before it turns comfy again late in the workweek. The sun may break through by late Wednesday, and highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s.
Thursday and Friday feature pleasant weather with lows in the 50s to low 60s and highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. There should be plenty of sunshine both days.
Right now, it looks like dry weather will hang on into the weekend. Expect highs in the 70s to low 80s on Saturday with increasing afternoon clouds. A warm front may bring showers/storms Saturday night into early Sunday as muggy and warm weather returns Sunday into Monday. The early outlook for the last week of August is for warm and mainly rain-free weather. It may get muggy again, too, as the wind shifts to the southwest.
